Public Safety and Community Engagement
I will work with local stakeholders and county, state, and federal partners to ensure our first responders have the equipment and training they need to stay safe. I will partner with the Police Chief and unions to improve tactics and strengthen community policing, with ongoing training focused on inclusion, sensitivity, and understanding local social dynamics. Building trust and mutual respect between HPD and residents is key to reducing crime. We will insist on accountability while involving the community in policy decisions, support the Chief’s outreach vision, responsibly upgrade technology (cameras and drones), and provide second chances through workforce training and job opportunities for returning citizens.

Small businesses are the backbone of our city. I will meet with business owners to remove barriers, streamline permits, reduce unnecessary regulations, and create tax and public/private incentives to attract investment. I will push for workforce development and higher-paying jobs, invest in opportunity zones and business districts, and simplify the process to start and grow businesses so Hawthorne benefits economically.
HOUSING AND COMMUNITY INVESTMENT
I will promote homeownership and coordinate programs to help working and middle-class renters buy homes. We will make code enforcement more responsive, hold absentee landlords accountable, and repair dilapidated properties. I will continue supporting first-time homebuyer programs, rebuilding and revitalizing housing, and expanding services for unhoused residents through partnerships with county and federal agencies—funding Tiny Bridge Homes, case management, mental health care, and permanent housing solutions.
INFRASTRUCTURE
We will continue to support our Public Works Department in seeking grants for our infrastructure projects to rebuild and modernize our City. The City of Good Neighbors should also be the Most Beautiful City in South Bay. As Councilmember, I will continue prioritizing critical infrastructure needs, from fixing potholes in our roads to creating new projects for our outdated and crumbling buildings. We will restore pride in our communities and maintain the city's financial strength while also continuing to invest in roads, sewers, quality drinking water, and other infrastructure. I will continue to advocate for additional funding dollars from County Measures M & R.

All Hawthorne children deserve high-quality education and access to childcare and preschool. I will support the school districts’ plans, advocate for fully funding Prop. 98, and expand early STEM and career education. I will work with superintendents and SBWIB to build clear pathways from graduation to jobs that meet local workforce needs.

My goal is to create sustainable economic opportunities, livable wages, and incentives that help residents thrive. I will prioritize policies that improve housing, education, employment, mental health, and equality, and continue supporting social programs for the homeless and disadvantaged. With experience in community organizing, education, healthcare, and social justice, I will listen to residents, fight for community needs, and work to earn your trust.
